Hidralia intensifies the works of cleaning of scuppers before the autumn rains
This work, which is carried out periodically and continuously throughout the year, is reinforced in the summer months to maintain the maximum hydraulic capacity of the sewerage network
Hidralia - a concessionaire of the potable water and sewerage service in Andalusian municipalities such as Marbella, Estepona, Manilva, Algarrobo, Rincón de la Victoria, San Fernando, Marchena, Roquetas de Mar, Vélez Blanco, Adra and La Mojonera - is immersed in the maintenance and cleaning of the sewerage network of the localities in which it is based. During these last weeks the cleaning of the scuppers is intensifying in anticipation of the proximity of the autumn rainy season. Thanks to these reinforcement campaigns, together with the usual maintenance that is carried out throughout the year, the sewers are found to be at the maximum of their hydraulic capacity to transport the water, channeling it towards the delivery points to the natural environment, and thus avoiding possible damage.
The more than 56,000 scuppers in different municipalities are cleaned throughout the year. In addition, in the summer months, and especially in September, reinforcement work is carried out in the intensive cleaning of the sewerage network due to the proximity of the rainy season.
Hidralia recalls that improper use of residential sewer systems can lead to breakdowns and dangerous situations in the city's general sewer system. Among these inappropriate uses are the elimination through the toilet of the wet bath towels, which end up forming jams in the sewage networks or in the pumping stations, seriously endangering the operation of the general water evacuation system.
