Hidralia renews its collaboration with Autism Cadiz to improve the quality of life of this collective in San Fernando
The water company shows its involvement in improving the accessibility of this group and supporting it in therapies
Hidralia, a concessionaire of drinking water and sewerage service in San Fernando, has renewed one more year its commitment to the Autism Association Cadiz, through the signing of a new agreement. The signing event was the manager of Hidralia, José Luis Trapero, and the president of Autismo Cádiz, Carmen López Ginés
In this way, Hidralia strengthens its collaboration with the entity in different aspects such as that dedicated to the accessibility of this group to free time or support its members in therapies. Among other things, thanks to this agreement Hidralia collaborates to facilitate its travels from San Fernando to the different activities they carry out externally in the different headquarters owned by the non-profit organization in Cadiz. In this way, they can move to perform hydrotherapy sessions, go to the Summer Colonies and the Family Respite, or move to Puerto Real to continue their therapies.
The linkage of the two entities has been trying for several years to improve the quality of life of people with Autism Spectrum (ASD) and their families in an essential area such as leisure and leisure, and collaborating with volunteers to support these activities. In fact, Hidralia has adapted its offices to have a headquarters without cognitive barriers through the concept of universal accessibility and in this way through adapted visual keys it facilitates the access and understanding of people with autism spectrum disorder, with brain damage, intellectual disability, with language problems, the elderly, people with language disrecognisment or with literacy or reading problems.
Autismo Cádiz is one of the first associations in Andalusia to serve the collective of people with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and their families, since 1979 thanks to therapies, daytime stay units, primary education, adaptive skills practice or an extensive program of advice and support to family members. The association has a wide range of services aimed at individuals and families of autistic people, whether minors or adults, so that they reach the status of full citizens with an optimal quality of life throughout their lives.
Among the various dynamics that Autism Cadiz sets in motion are the Summer Colonies that develop in hostels or camps. There, these people can enjoy a natural environment that helps them relax and get out of the routine, while offering a few days of vacation to families.
Also, the Family Respite program focuses on families of people over the age of 16 with ASD, to reduce the potential anxiety of families and offer different solutions when there is an unforeseen situation (death, illness, income...) and punctually for leisure actions or activities of other members of the family unit.
