Hidralia and Autism Cádiz renew their collaboration to improve the quality of life of this group in San Fernando
Among other things, thanks to this agreement, Hidralia collaborates to facilitate its movement from San Fernando to the different activities carried out externally in the different offices that the non-profit organization has in Cádiz.
Hidralia, the concessionaire of the potable water and sewerage service in San Fernando, has renewed its commitment to the Autism Association Cádiz for another year. The linking of both entities has been trying for several years to improve the quality of life of people with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and their families in an essential area such as leisure and free time, and collaborating with volunteers to support these activities.
This new agreement has been initialed by the Director of Hidralia, Matilde Mancha, and the President of Autism Cádiz, José Sabido, at the headquarters of the water company in San Fernando. In this Hidralia is committed to collaborate with the association in different aspects, such as the one dedicated to the accessibility of this group to free time or give them support in their therapies. Among other things, thanks to this agreement, Hidralia collaborates to facilitate its movement from San Fernando to the different activities carried out externally in the different headquarters that the non-profit organization has in Cádiz. In this way, they can move to perform hydrotherapy sessions, go to the Summer Colonies and Family Respite, or move to Puerto Real to continue their therapies.
Autism Cádiz is one of the first associations in Andalusia to serve the group of people with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and their families, since 1979 thanks to therapies, day-stay units, primary education, adaptive skills practice or an extensive program of advice and support to family members. The association has a wide range of services aimed at people and families of people with autism, whether they are minors or adults, so that they reach the status of full citizens with an optimal quality of life throughout their lives.
Among the different dynamics that Autism Cádiz sets in motion are the Summer Colonies that take place in shelters or camps. There, these people can enjoy a natural environment that helps them relax and get out of the routine, while offering a few days of vacation to families.
Also, the Family Respite program focuses on families of people over 16 years of age with ASD, to reduce the possible anxiety of families and offer different solutions when an unforeseen situation occurs (death, illness, income ...) and promptly for leisure actions or activities of other members of the family unit.
Last year, Hidralia took another step in its support to this group with ASD with the adaptation of its San Fernando office. Thanks to the concept of universal accessibility, a site has been designed without cognitive barriers. Through adapted visual codes, access and understanding of people with autism spectrum disorder, with brain damage, intellectual disability, with language problems, elderly people, people with ignorance of the language or with literacy or reading problems is facilitated.
