Hidralia and the Estepona town hall build a new 15,000 cubic meter water tank to improve and guarantee the supply in the city
The works, which are being carried out in the Las Mesas area, represent an investment of more than 3.7 million euros, from the local infrastructure improvement fee
Construction has begun on a new water tank in the Las Mesas area, which will have a capacity of 15,000 cubic meters. These works, which are being carried out by Hidralia, the water concession company, will be carried out within 11 months. They represent an investment of more than 3.7 million euros, from the local infrastructure improvement fee. The mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, has visited today the first works being carried out, accompanied by the deputy mayor of the External Control and Services area, Blas Ruzafa, and the manager of Hidralia, Fulgencio Díaz.
This project is included in the Estepona Supply Master Plan, which aims to carry out works worth 22.7 million euros in the water network until 2030, thus guaranteeing supply throughout the municipality and improving quality in the areas experiencing higher population growth.
In this sense, the councilor has referred to the magnitude and relevance of this work, which multiplies by 15 the capacity of the current existing deposit in this area. Likewise, he mentioned the importance of creating supply infrastructures that serve the city and the projected sustainable development.
For his part, the manager of Hidralia stressed that this new deposit will guarantee and improve supply throughout the urban area and in the western part of the city. Likewise, it will notably expand the storage capacity of drinking water for this area of the city, going from 1,000 cubic meters in the current Las Mesas reservoir to 15,000 cubic meters in this new infrastructure. In this way, the city will be given greater water independence and improvements to the networks in the area between Andalucía Avenue and the La Cala area. Likewise, he has valued the collaboration between Hidralia and the City Council to promote important infrastructures in the city.
It should be remembered that last year the Consistory and Hidralia also carried out works to improve the water supply network in the Calvario area, which benefited more than 3,000 residents and involved an investment of more than 2 million euros, 2.7 kilometers of water networks that run along the central section of the promenade were renovated and the entire city sewage and supply network was digitized. In addition, the works to improve the water supply on Litoral Avenue were also carried out.
