Leaders in innovation in water efficiency projects

The application of digital technologies transforms management processes in the complete water cycle and in the cities in which it takes place

Hidralia provides a service to over one million three hundred thousand inhabitants and currently operates in 53 Andalusian towns, in which it manages the complete water cycle through different contractual relationships. Specifically, in Málaga it provides a service to the towns of Algarrobo, Estepona, Manilva, Marbella and Rincón de la Victoria through a direct concession, and in Benahavís and Torremolinos through the mixed public/private companies Aguas de Benahavís and Aguas de Torremolinos.

Continuous improvement in customer services is one of its objectives. Through Cetaqua, the Water Technology Centre created in 2014 with Hidralia, the University of Málaga (UMA), and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), the most innovative, academic knowledge is applied to water and the environment.

In Marbella, Cetaqua is carrying out a project called ‘Geomar’, which recently revealed the internal geometry of aquifers to improve sustainability and efficiency.

The digital transformation is also taking place in the water sector. The application of digital technologies is transforming management processes. For example, to locate the well-known ‘foam’ in the sea, Cetaqua developed a warning system for the Aguas de Torremolinos water company. This system is based on artificial sight that sends an automatic alert in real time when ‘foam’ is located.
