They recognize the commitment to the SDGs of the San Fernando Social Pact
The Confederation of Businessmen of Cádiz grants this new award after the award it received last year from the FAMP
The Social Pact for Solidarity, Employment and the Green and Inclusive Reconstruction of San Fernando prepared by Hidralia, the concessionaire of the municipal water supply and sewage service in the town, and the San Fernando City Council, with the participation of the main social and economic groups of the city, continues to position itself as an initiative to promote local sustainable development after achieving new recognition.
After the award granted by the Andalusian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FAMP) for its collaborative nature, it is now the Confederation of Businessmen of the province of Cádiz that gives it a new award within the Recognition Contest for Companies and Entities committed to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
And all the initiatives included in the document are linked to the different goals that are integrated into this plan developed by the UN (United Nations Organization) to achieve sustainable social, environmental and economic development, in addition to aligning with the approaches included in what is known as Agenda 2030, which constitutes a global call to action to achieve precisely the SDGs.
In this sense, the work of the San Fernando Social Pact has produced a tangible reality and work is now underway to implement the 29 measures that comprise it. A series of actions that stand out for their supportive and inclusive nature (ten actions), supporting social groups and addressing situations of vulnerability; for its incentives for employment (seven actions), promoting the generation of activity, training, diversity and equality; and for betting on green infrastructures and the digitalization of the water service (12 actions).
Among them, the implementation of the Minimum Vital Guarantee stands out in the supply of drinking water for families who are at risk of exclusion, aid for people who are committed to creating new businesses in the city or their commitment to the circular economy, the use of green energy and the enhancement of the natural environment of San Fernando.
“The SDGs are a series of commitments that we have to make our own, both personally and collectively. We are at a crucial moment and we must act to avoid a collapse not only environmental but also social and economic. That is why at Hidralia we understood that the recovery of cities after the COVID pandemic required promoting new development models based on sustainability, solidarity, but above all on the collaboration of everyone to be able to move forward. This is the germ of the Social Pact and in San Fernando we have achieved that the involvement of public, private, social and civil entities has resulted in the creation of a series of concrete measures to face the challenges presented by the climate crisis, economic fluctuations , conflicts, social challenges and the consequences of pandemics for a city like San Fernando, having water as the backbone for the development of these actions”, said Hidralia manager José Luis Trapero.
“San Fernando has been working for years with the involvement of the city's different social and business agents to meet the challenges that the 2030 Agenda urgently sets for us. Among them, to advance responsible consumption and increasingly efficient management. of the water. This new recognition endorses the collective path that we have undertaken and for which there is no turning back", influenced the mayor of San Fernando, Patricia Cavada, who thanked the Confederation for granting the award to the Social Pact for Solidarity, Employment and Green and Inclusive Reconstruction. An alliance that is "an example of everything that can be advanced through public and private cooperation. Both to respond to the environmental challenges, which press us, and to improve the lives of citizens without leaving anyone behind and raising a wall of social containment with measures that protect families, local commerce and small businesses. The current context requires changes to be introduced in administrative processes, social care, the economy or education. And this pact is precisely an example of that necessary transformation".
