They recognize the commitment of the centers of San Fernando to promote science careers among girls

Hidralia and the Aquae Foundation present a commemorative plaque to San Ignacio, Vicente Tofiño and Puente Zuazo for completing the first cycle of the 'Aquae STEM' program

Hidralia, a company that manages the supply and sanitation network of San Fernando, and its foundation, Aquae Foundation, in collaboration with the City Council of San Fernando, have delivered a commemorative plaque to the island centers that participate in the educational program 'Aquae STEM', designed to promote science and technology careers among primary school girls.

San Fernando is the Andalusian town in which more centers have joined this initiative that, through the resolution of problems around water and the environment, aims to promote a culture of analysis and scientific thinking among the youngest schoolgirls. And it is that the data indicate that currently only 26% of students who opt for careers of a scientific nature are women, which forces them to look for innovative bets to try to increase those numbers.

The mayor of San Fernando, Patricia Cavada, and the manager of Hidralia, José Luis Trapero, have been in charge of recognizing the involvement shown by the San Ignacio, Puente Zuazo and Vicente Tofiño schools with a distinction that only those centers that have been carrying out this project in its different stages for three years have received, valuing their commitment to equal opportunities.

The Aquae STEM program directly and explicitly involves the entire school environment (peers, teachers and family) and includes teacher training, methodologies and activities to be carried out in class, an accompaniment program and the educational resources necessary to incorporate STEM autonomously, simply and fun in the classroom. In addition, it is integrated into the curricular plan of each course, associated -among others- with the subject of Natural Sciences of Primary Education (LOMCE).
