They renew the protocol to guarantee access to water for families in San Fernando in vulnerable situations
By 2022 there will be a social fund of 50,000 euros to take care of the bills of people who go through economic problems
Hidralia, a company that manages the city's drinking water and sewerage service, and the San Fernando City Council have once again renewed the action protocol aimed especially at families and groups in vulnerable situations in the city to guarantee access to water for the islanders.
The mayor Patricia Cavada and José Luis Trapero, manager of Hidralia, have signed this agreement that establishes a series of actions to fight against water poverty and economic vulnerability in which some citizens of the town find themselves and guarantee the supply of water to all citizens. Hidralia and the City Council of San Fernando have been collaborating for years to achieve a fair and equitable development of the city. A commitment always necessary, but even more so with the consequences caused by the COVID-19 health pandemic.
The renewal of this protocol includes a new item for the year 2022 of 50,000 euros for the Social Fund, intended to pay the bills of those island families whose situation of vulnerability is accredited by the Social Services of the City Council, and who can not cope with water bills. During 2021, 207 families benefited from this Fund, which meant a total amount subsidized of more than 56,000 euros.
Hidralia wants to continue expanding the measures of aid to people and already works with the Consistory for the implementation of the Vital Minimum, which will be one more step with respect to the protocol of action currently in force aimed at families and vulnerable groups of the city.
On the other hand, the Protocol establishes the reinforcement of the dissemination of aid to large families, which are subsidized 50% of consumption in bills from the second and third blocks of consumption. In 2021, 239 petitions were accepted that took advantage of this subsidized modality.
Likewise, to help those people and groups that for some reason cannot cope with punctual payments of the invoice, different payment commitments designed to their measure to facilitate their payment are collected.
Users interested in knowing these aids can do so through the Social Services area of the City of San Fernando or from the different channels that Hidralia has made available to customers to improve their attention, since for the company offering the best service has always been a priority, and in this process of continuous improvement has made available to citizens a multichannel service that adapts to the needs of the various types of customers, offering personalized, inclusive, agile and professional attention to leave no one behind.
