A photograph of the Puerto Deportivo in the 60s, in the area known as the 'stone pier', has won the first prize of the 'Marbella en imágenes’ contest, launched by the water supply company Hidralia, in collaboration with the City Council. The manager of the entity, Carlos Corral, and the councilman of Works, Javier García, have highlighted in the award ceremony the high participation registered in the first edition, with a total of 34 photographs presented, and have emphasized the fact that the objective is to "value the transformation of the city".
The winning photograph, by Susana Sánchez, has won the first prize, worth 500 euros. In addition, hid a beautiful story, because one of the protagonists of that image of the 60s was his father, who was present at the awards ceremony. Next to it have also been distinguished in second place, with 300 euros, the snapshot of Angel Ramos, which collects the cover of the Hotel Marbella Club, and third, with 150 euros, that of Brígida María Jiménez, which reflects the Puerto Deportivo in 1957.
As Carlos Corral recalled in the awards ceremony, this event is part of the 'We are water. We are Marbella' campaign, which was launched last year on the occasion of the 25 years of management by Hidralia of the supply service in the city. He also explained that a technique has been used to fuse the old photographs with the current state of those enclaves, "photomontages that reflect the before and today of Marbella" and has announced that "we are already working on the next edition".
The councilman of Works has highlighted the importance of the contest "not only to publicize the historical heritage of the city, but to rescue our memories", while pointing out that there has been citizen participation for a first selection of the better pictures. "It has been very difficult to choose the winners because the level has been very high," said the councilman.
